Feedback Wanted: Is this a Better Chef View?
The "chef view" in MacGourmet touch was kind of added in at the last minute, and I'm not sure that I'm happy with it.
I'd like some opinions, does this version work any better for people?
Note that the ingredients and directions scroll separately in this version, and that the directions text is also now larger, and the ingredients text smaller.

I like it more fire functionailty, but it's not as pretty. I like all the details you get now. Or is chef view what you see when you tap the diretions spot that currently only shows directions an go ingredients. I'd like thy to be like your screenshot of the chef view. That'd be great!
Sorry that should have been for, not fire.
The chef view is what you see when you press the chef hat to the right of the recipe name...
The ingredients part looks easier to read in your new version. I also like the separate scrolling areas. It makes it more functional if you use this view while cooking.
P.S. My top request for the next version is the ability to email a recipe from the app.
oh, I missed that. Yeah, the one you describe here is much better.
How about horizontal view.
Yes, I like it.
I definitely prefer the way it is---I like to see the entire list of the ingredients, not only a few at a time. My vote--the way it is works for me! :) I love the program!
Yeah Michael, I think I prefer it over the original especially the separate scrolling areas.

Separate scrolling for ingredients and instructions is a very nice feature.
I've been meaning to request separate scrolling areas for instructions and ingredients in the desktop app for some time now.
I like this version better for a couple of reasons:
1. Separate scrolling is a huge plus since you have to make use of much less screen real estate than the desktop version.
2. Also, I like that you kept the ingredient list the same as recipe view. Since I include many usage notes (trimmed, minced, sliced, etc) in the comments area and it helps to see them in the chef view.
A great upgrade.
Many people write directions as steps, often numbered. MacGourmet currently only treats directions as one large text. If directions are steps one could display it in a different way, e.g. with next/previous navigation.
Ingredients and directions could also be two tabs to switch between. That way you don't have to scroll back and forth. Don't think there is a need to have both on one large page.
Hi, Michael.
The screenshot you posted is prettier than the current view, but I'm not so crazy about the dual scrolling areas. Once I prep my ingredients, I tend not to need to refer back to the list. So, unless I could make the ingredient list go away...the proposed UI just takes space away from reading the rest of the recipe. I'd vote for the current Chef View.
I'm actually pretty intrigued by the tab idea proposed by Harald Walker.
A propos of nothing -- I recently made the argument to a friend that MacGourmet and Cambio on my iPod made for the perfect kitchen computer. :)
It's hard to say without trying it out. I'd be afraid the ingredient section might be too small and tight to really scroll through comfortably. I also like Harald's tab idea.
Honestly, I think I like it better as it is now.
Smaller ingredient text is very pretty, but I'm . . . well . . . I'm old ! Smaller is harder for me. Sad, but true.
Can I just take this opportunity to say how much I love this app ?
They're very similar, but I think the advantage might go to the new view you're proposing: It might be advantageous to scroll ingredients separately from directions, in case you need to keep an eye on two places at once, as it were.

I like the tab idea too. Don't try to put the recipe name in the titlebar, it's probably rarely big enough. Instead, use the space for the tabs. With the screen not split, a landscape view is more practical. Use landscape mode as a way to have larger text for easier viewing.
I like this, the point of the Chef View is to keep an eye on two places at once (I rarely prep anything) and I think this looks like it would work well.
Thanks for all the comments! Very helpful. I've held of making more than just a couple of minor changes to this for 1.0.2 (list formatted now, bigger text) but this has been useful feedback for later.
