Gadget Corner: The Black & Decker Infuze is no more. Long live the Bodum Santos!
I reviewed my favorite coffee maker, the Black and Decker Infuze a while back. Well, come to find out, and much to my dismay, this excellent coffee maker has apparently been discontinued. Why? Possibly because B&D didn't know how to market it? I dunno. Thankfully, there is now a very similar coffee maker available from Bodum, the Santos Vacuum coffee maker. In many ways it's the same as the Infuze, and it also produces great coffee, using the same exact process. It is a little less user friendly, in that it is a bit harder to clean. However, the Santos line offers a lot more options than just the one Infuze model. You can get a small, mini maker that makes 6 cups, or you can get a larger 12 cup model, both with and without a timer. In addition, the Santos is available in 4 different almost Mac-like colors: transparent, graphite, blue and orange. So, if you were interested in the Black and Decker Infuze and found it unavailable, there is another option now, the Santos from Bodum. I also still stand by my assessment that using a vacuum brew maker is the only way to go for the best coffee. Nothing compares to the smoothness and taste.

Those are Mac colors. They were made popular in fashion and many other products when Macy's displayed Blueberry and Tangerine iBooks in its front windows shortly after those models came out. Perhaps a Graphite model was later displayed, too.
One big warning about the Santos -- they break within a few months after purchase! Check Amazon to read the reviews and confirm. I've owned two of these already, both broken within a year. The plastic carafe starts to leak and crack, and then the heating base of the unit quits. For $80 bucks (mini Santos) I think it should last a while.
I was lucky enough to find an Infuze coffee maker at a close-out store. It is working perfectly and much better quality. Too bad B&D stopped making it.
I have recently go out my old Black and Decker Infuze coffee maker and find I no longer have the instructions. Can somebody tell me how to brew coffee with it?

Hello there, Could someone help with a copy of the manual and perhaps extra filters for the black and decker infuze coffee maker.I have moved recently and missing a box or two (which of course has the instructional manual and filters in it).I would so grateful for your help.hugs,karen
