Celebrate MacGourmet's 5th Anniversary with a Sale!

This week marks the 5th anniversary of the release of MacGourmet. It's hard to believe that over FIVE years ago, it was just an idea that I was toying around with. My thanks to everyone who has purchased MacGourmet over the years, and made developing Mac software such a fulfilling endeavor. Here's to many more years and cool things still to come!

As a way to celebrate the 5th anniversary, MacGourmet will be available for only $14.95 ($10 off), tomorrow (8/19) through Saturday (8/22) using the coupon code MG5YEAR at the online store.

If you're already a MacGourmet user, add the bundle of optional plug-ins tomorrow (8/19) through Saturday (8/22) for only $14.95 ($15 off) using the coupon code MGPLUG5YEAR at the online store.

Finally, you can get bundle that includes MacGourmet and all 3 optional plug-ins tomorrow (8/19) through Saturday (8/22) for only $29.95 ($25 off) using the coupon code MG5YEARBUNDLE at the online store.

If you have friends and family who might like MacGourmet, let them know about the sale!

To see just how far MacGourmet has come (these are pictures reposted from my year 3 blog post):

The About box says it's version 1, but really, this was just the first test version that I was "noodling" around with. At the time, MacGourmet was just an idea that I was toying around with because I was getting interested in cooking and recipe collecting and couldn't really find a good database-based product (or really any at all for that matter) when I looked for one. Hard to believe this became the application available today.

When the first beta was finally released, MacGourmet looked something like this:

Finally, while version 2.4, still offers the same "Mail" 3-pane setup, it also allows you the option to make the interface look like this with the widescreen option:

What does the future hold? Development for version 3 is well under way (there's nothing to announce yet, beyond that it's being worked on), as are updates for MacGourmet touch and all 3 plug-ins. There are also some other exciting things already underway, so stay tuned!

Does the sale apply also to MacGourmet Deluxe?

No, this sale only applies to the regular version of MacGourmet and coupons can only be used in the Advenio online store.

Hi Michael, do you have any plan about the upgrade policy to version 3.0? it will be free or not?

Sorry, but the Nutritional Database is in english language? The nutritional plugin seems to be localized but the database to be in english.

Re: 3.0 - Other than stating that it's in development, there isn't anything more to announce yet.

Re: Nutritional database only in English - The only freely available nutritional database that I know of is available from the USDA, and that's in English. Unfortunately, taking localization to that level is very cost and time prohibitive.
